QuestionOne of my mice, whom i have had since she was born, is currently making "chirpy" noises. It is not a normal squeak, I know her father used to do it when he was alive, is it possible for it to be hereditary or is it a serious health problem?
AnswerDear Sara,
Your mouse probably has a respiratory infection. This can make her very sick or kill her. She needs antibiotics. Can you get her to a vet? Find one who is trained in "exotics" or "pocket pets." Call around to find one who works with mice often. Ask how many mice they have seen in the past month.
If not, I do have a home remedy, described in the following post. But the vet has much better antibiotics than you can get without prescription.

If the medication doesn't help-- again it's far better to get it from a vet-- you can test for allergies. That would mean she had the same allergies as her dad, which is unlikely. I describe how to do that in the following post:

Best of luck!
