how long does a red crab live for,as a pet

By "Red crab", i assume you mean strawberry hermit crabs. I am sorry to say this but if you do not know the name of this crab you shouldn't own it....they are harder to take care of than regular crabs. They need higher humidity which is hard to do with out break-outs of mold and they need TONS of space height and length and width i suggest a 15-20 gallon tank for ONE strawberry crab. they can live anywhere from 0-50 years...i know thats a big difference but it all depends on how you take care of them.
