Guinea pig paralysis

Question
Over night my guinea pig, Bailey was paralysed. He cannot use his back legs at all. I brought him to the vet and she said it could be because of alot of things. I read on the internet that it could be lack of calicum. sooo we gave him that, it said try it for two days! Im trying to be careiful because i know it can create stones. The vet also said it would be lack of vitamin c, which is very possible because i can only find one supplement, and he will not drink his water with that in it, its a liquoid. Can i use human tablets?  IM Also noticing when he poops that it just hangs out of his bum, i dont know why. Maybe because the mussels is not working right because of the paralysis....i really donno. The vet also said watch for pee..because he may get a infection. yesterday he was peeing normal...he has peed(as far as i know 4-5 times today already) but maybe im just being over concerned about the pee...i will keep a watch on it. i do think that he is supposed to pee more then that
He didnt have a fall, or jump sooooo i dont think its a spinal problem..He is also eating and drinking fine as of right now, the vet said this is very strange but the piggie looks healthy..If you can write me back i will be VERY greatful

Answer
Guinea Pigs can get paralized from a lot of things, vitamin deficiencies are rare though, especially if the guinea pig is getting fed plenty of guinea pig pellet, and fruits and vegetables, I would however keep the vitamin C at high levels because Vitamin C can lose its potency in pellets over time. Guinea pigs can have human chewable vitamin C, I use it all of the time, just get the orange flavor in 100mg and cut the tablet in half, or you can get a higher dose and cut it in forths. I would keep with using the liquid vitmains in his water, and you might want to give him some broccolli, Kale, and Collard greens to increase his calcium in case that is the problem, also it would help to use some unflavored Pedialyte in his water bottle with the vitamins. A lot of guinea pigs can have temporary paralysis from seizures, the paralysis just might last a few days or may last for the rest of its life depending on the severity of the seizure, if he is and older pig or a very young pig this could be the case. Paralysis can also happen in bad cases of mites, the pig will go into seizures and it will cause the legs to go out temporarly or permanently. As long as the pig did not fall or get injured in any kind of way there is not much you can do about the paralysis except give the pig supportive care and hope for the best. Pigs can live with paralysis you'll just have to watch him and when it starts to look like he is having too much trouble he will need to be put to sleep, but don't give up on him too soon, I have seen so many miracles of pigs coming back around in bad conditions. The poop sticking to him is most likely from old age if he is older and from the muscles not working correctly, this is common in older males, you just have to wipe it off at least twice a day with a baby wipe.
