eating wood

Can my Guinea pig eat wood? If he can, can he eat maple,oak,cedar or any other type. what type of wood should i feed him soft or hard?

Piggies may chew wood. Wood chews made for rodents from the pet store are the safest. Cedar should ALWAYS be avoided where rodents are concerned. It causes liver damage and allergies. Pine is also best avoided. Some safe woods are elm, maple, and birch, as well as bark from fruit trees such as apple, pear, and peach. Here is a link with some special chew toys made of safe woods that may give you some ideas.
