Question
hello, i bought 2 guinnea pigs from my local pet store in mid-Jan,i knew they were 1 male 1 female.I was told the male would not be sexally mature until 12 wks, so i had my male piggy castrated at 10 wks old on 5th Feb.Last wk i noticed my female had gained a lot of weight and was eating and drinking a lot more than usual. After i found your website and read some of your answers im  positive she's pregnant so i've upped her vitiman c intake. But im not sure how pregnant she is although i have felt the babies moving and her hind legs seem further apart. Have you any idea by the info. i've gave you how pregnant she is??

Answer
Charlotte,

I am afraid you got some bad information on when a male is sexually mature. Male Guinea Pigs are sexually mature at 3-5 weeks. So there is how your female got pregnant in the first place.

From the fact that you can feel the babies move, I would say she is just about ready to have them. Most likely with in the next week or so. Remember though that she will most likely have them  when your not looking, like when your asleep or not at home.

Good Luck to you,
