Question
A few days ago, I bought a new guinea pig which I am told is about 2 months old.  She seems to be very nervous so I hold her as often as I can, talk sweetly to her, and give her a dark place to hide.  For the first day she hid in the corner of her new large cage are we were concerned she was not eating/drinking.  After the first 24hrs she relaxed in her cage and began exploring and eating/drinking and nibbling her hay.  However, it has been 4 days now and she is still not interested in any kind of veggies.  I have offered carrots, celery tops, spinach, a piece of grape (which my old GP *loved*) and a sliver of watermelon (which my old GP also loved.)  My new little girl wouldn't touch any of it.  I leave it in her cage next to her food dish until it gets old looking then have to take it away.  What is her problem?  Too nervous?  Too picky?  Should I just giver her more time to adjust?  I don't remember having this problem with my old Guinea Pig.

Answer
Hi Erin

As long as your new piggy is eating hay and some dried food then we should just put this down to needing more time to adjust to her new home. Some piggies are more nervous than others.

Please let me know if this continues to be a problem, but I doubt it will.
