Buggers infection

Question
My little boy guinea pig has an upper respritory infection since the day we got him. usually once a day, he coughs (and it sounds painful) but he dont show signs of pain. He's always very chipper. i took him to the vet about a month ago, and they perscribed "baytrol" i think its called for him. it didnt seem to help. when i bought Bug, he was much smaller than the other guinea pigs there. Could he have been taken away from him mother to early and developed a lung deformity?

Answer
Hi Lauren

I think that is doubtful but if he was the smallest pig in the litter he might be a little more susceptible to infections.

I would ask your vet to prescribe a different antibiotic. Baytrill is better for bacterial infections but for respiratory problems Bactrim is more widely used.
