Guinea Pigs=separation anxiety

Question
We have a sow and a boar. They have lived together for about 5 months. 2 days ago, our sow gave birth to 4 beautiful babies. We separated the boar (the father) from the mom and babies, as he is not yet fixed. He is crying for her and seems very depressed. He is not his usual happy playful self. He keeps looking in the cage, but his sow doesn't pay any attention to him. We are getting him fixed in about 2 weeks. We would like to know if we can do anything to make this situation better? We hate to see him so miserable. We have tried to give him extra attention, holding him often, etc. We would also like to know if we could introduce him to the babies and when? Please answer asap, for it is very hard to see him like this.

Answer
Hello,
Try and put him somewhere that the sow and him can see each other(e.g)cages opposite each other, so that they can talk. You can put the babies and mother with the dad once weaning has finished, weaning takes six weeks.
Make sure you give him extra attention and lots of toys to play with to stop him getting bored.
Best wishes and I hope the babies are ok.
