QuestionMy boyfriend had two male dwarf russian hamsters (only had them for about 6wks) and he came home from work one day to find one of them had a bleeding tail and the other one seemed to be going for his tail. He died the following day. He was only very young. Why did he die? Did the other hamster cause this?
AnswerHi Mary,
sorry to hear about your loss.
It does sound as if the two hamsters had been fighting - the one hamster has probably caused the others injury, which in turn has probably caused his death.
So it is probably best to keep this hamster on his own now as he sounds as if he is a solitary hamster.
He will probably make a very good pet and be very kind and gentle to people even though he doesnt get on with other hamsters.
Kind Regards,
Tammy
