Throwing up

Question
We brought a new girl home the other day and we're introducing her to out other pets as safely as possible. The problem is that she's been throwing up at least once or twice a day. It looks like her food (it's Marshall, like what the store feeds her) and she seems to be drinking enough. The skin on her neck is very elastic, and goes back into place easily. She's been doing this for a few days, as I said, but otherwise all seems well. We need to get her to the vet for the new pet visit anyway, but should I rush it and drag her to the clinic in the morning? Thanks! Oh, and we've been giving her a little hairball medicine every day, and it doesn't seem to help.

Answer
Sarah,

Hairball medicine doesn't work well for ferrets.  They don't usually get hairballs like cats.  Nutrical is good or ferretone.  I would say if she hasn't gotten into anything she is probably just going through an adjustment period to her new surroundings.  I myself don't use ferret food for my ferrets.  I use Purina Kitten Chow and always have.  They love it and are healthy.  I have a 10 year old girl now that's been on it all of her life.  If you change to Purina Kitten chow just mix the Marshall farms food with it to get your ferret to like it.  Keep an eye on her and make sure she is going to the bathroom.  As long as she acts fine and is going to the bathroom and not dehydrated or losing weight she's probably ok.
