ferrets and hiccups

Question
Just a quick (probably stupid) question. Do ferrets get hiccups? My boys were playing and I noticed what seemed to be hiccups for a while. Didn't affect playing or nothing...just lil hiccup things. I admit I am paranid so I figured I'd ask.

Answer
Hello Claudia,

No question is a stupid one!  Never be ashamed for asking =)

Ferrets can get hiccups.  It is a spastic contraction of the diaphragm, basically the same as humans.  They should cease within several minutes, but if they continue or become very frequent occurances you should have your vet take a peek.
