Question
My husband & I have a 2 yr old ferret who has a big problem scratching at
carpets and furniture. We play with her all the time when she is awake. She
has free run over the house to an extent & we have tried everything that we
can think of to get her to stop. We end up following her around the house at
times to make sure she doesn't scratch. When we see or. Hear her scratch
we put her in a pen for a time out but it doesn't seem to do anything. If you
can suggest anything that could help us with her it would be great. We will
never get rid of her or anything but we also don't want to keep her caged up
all the time. Please help

Answer
Ferrets are naturally diggers so that can be hard to "fix".  What you do is to redirect her digging to something more appropriate, like a digging pit.  You can get some childrens play sand and put it in a tub for her to dig in.  There are also other possibilities for digging, like dirt or even tubs with toys etc in them to allow her to have fun digging.  When you catch her digging at something, place her in the appropriate digging place.
