Question
Hello,
I am thinking about buying a beardie but I wanted to find out some info first, when reading about substrates, there seems to be tons of discussion and impaction problems etc. I was wondering what type of substrate to use eg. sand, calcium sand.
Thanks in advance

Answer
Hello, It mainly depends on the age of the bearded dragon. Babys and juveniles usually shouldn't be in sand because of impaction. Calcium sand would be best to sue because it has a less likely chance of causing impaction. As an owner my self i use normal play sand with my babys. It is often risky for babys but has caused no problems with mine. i would strongly recommend calcium sand, it can easily be cleaned and like i mentioned before it has a less likely chance of impaction.
