Question
His tank
His tank
Ok so I have a bearded dragon. He is about 29 weeks old. I hav him in a lovely tank includes 2 basking spots, 2 caves, a food dish, a waterfall, plants and unpolished tile as flooring. He has no problem eating insects. But he never drinks water on his own! So I put him in the bath a lot. I want him to be able to drink from a water dish even when I'm not there. And also, he has a mild obsession with peas. All he eats is peas and he also only eats them when I flick them in front of him. I want him to eat a variety of fruit and veggies on his own! He is too spoiled!!!! Please help!!! So to recap my questions are: HOW CAN I MAKE HIM DRINK WATER ON HIS OWN? And HOW CAN I MAKE HIM EAT OTHER FOOD BESIDES FREAKING PEAS??

Answer
Hello, first of all I would like to address the waterfall you stated that you have. Bearded dragons are desert reptiles and are not use to being around humidity caused from waterfalls. It may be wise to get ird of it. Now the water question, it would be very rare to get your bearded dragon to actually drink from a bowl. In the wild they often will get water dripping down plants or from other natural sources. Misting daily and bathing daily can keep your dragon hydrated and happy. Hey may sometimes attempt to drink from the water bowl but it is rare for him to drink out of it like a dog. Mist and bath him daily! Now as for the greens and veggies problem, I have come to known many bearded dragon owners to only offer greens for food from anywhere for 1 day to a few. The idea is that eventually the beardie will have to feed on the greens. Another idea is to get the greens in his mouth so he knows what he is eating and so he can get a taste of it.
