New Puppy - Moving House

Question
We are about to get a puppy, 10 weeks old, Westhighland Terrier.  However, we are also about to move in one month.  Would it be better to postpone the puppy until after the move or will she cope ok?

Answer
Hi Vanessa,
I would recommend waiting, just because of the stress for you. After moving, you will have many chores including unpacking and all the other new house things. To housetrain a puppy and work on the critical socialization work might be challenging.

However, if you live in a seasonal climate, it is always better to get a puppy in nice weather for ease of housetraining and socialization. You could still wait a little bit after moving and have enough nice weather to do those things.

Hope this helps.
