Potty training behavior help

Question
Hello,

I have a 1 1/2 year old Australian Cattle dog. We have had her since she was 5 months old. When we first got her, she was completely potty trained. She only had one accident in the house on the first night we had her and that was it. In the beginning of November, we moved to a new apartment. When we would put the leash on her to take her outside, she would pee all over the foyer. We figured this was due to the new place and that it would pass quickly. Now it has been 5 weeks since then and she is still doing it every time we put the leash on her. We have even tried letting her out the door to the pavement and she still does it. When she does, it's not just a little bit, it's quite a lot and then she will go again when she is actually outside. We took her to our vet because we thought maybe it was a UTI, it turns out there was a slight infection so they put her on antibiotics but it has not gotten any better.

We are beginning to think this is more of a behavior issue than the UTI but we are not sure. We can't just let her run out of the apartment with no leash and we are not sure what else to do. If you scold her for it, she just goes even more so we don't do that either.

This is the only time she has an accident is when she is taken to the door and the leash is put on. She doesn't have accidents in the house at any other times.

Any advice or tips you have, will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Answer
Hello Ashley:

I would think it might be leash excitement, if this is the only time it happens.

She is getting so excited about going out that she pees.......

Use the leash more in the house without taking her out so that having the leash put on does not mean going out.
