Question
yes, I have about a 5month old puppy mix.  maybe pug and cocker spaniel mix.  who ever she first sees she gets so excited and pees and jumps on whoever it is.  she is very well trained to go to the bathroom outside, but will pee when she first sees them.  Please help

Answer
This is known as excitable urination or submissive urination, and is a natural canine behavior designed to tell another being "I'm not a threat".  It's more common in some breeds and Cockers seem to be prone to it.  The solution is to make all greetings as calm and benign as possible, even to the extent of, at first, completely ignoring the dog until she is calm, then quietly patting or saying "good girl".  As to the jumping, all guests should be instructed to ignore the dog until all four of her paws are on the ground and she is calm.  If they attempt to pat and she goes back to jumping up, then withdraw your attention again.  If no one ever acknowledges her when she does this, she will eventually quit.  The problem is that if anyone does give her attention, then it will continue (intermittent reinforcement, even eye contact, keeps the behavior happening).  Hope that helps - good luck.
