Question
I have a 4 year old wire fox terrior. She is a very loving gentle dog except that she has been aggressive toward other dogs. It seems to be when she is a close space and the other dog growls she attacks and bites on and won't let go. How do I stop this behavior?

Answer
It sounds to me like the other dog is the aggressor, and she is finishing the quarrel. The thing is, terriers are known for being feisty and a little dog aggressive. There are things you can do to help her (I'd recommend the book "Control Unleashed" by Leslie McDevitt) but to a large degree, I would manage the situation and not allow other dogs to get in her face and be grumpy. If she isn't good playing, don't ask her to play, and don't allow other dogs to get in her face when you are walking or training her. Sandy Case MEd CPDT www.positivelycanine.com
