Cancer in dog

Question
Dear Patti,

I have just found out my 9 year old cocker spaniel has cancer and has a tumor in his nose and mouth.  Of course this is so upsetting to me as I love him very much, and he has a part of my heart which is only for him.  I have done much research on the subject and have found out he needs an increase of fat and proteins in his food, which I have switched from Nutro Ultra to BilJac.  I have also increased his fish oil and am adding more fruits and vegetables to his diet.  I do not believe in medicine only as the last resort as medicine at one time almost killed me and is killing my mother.  I put Braxton on steroids one time and he lost all bladder and bowel control and panted continously.  I am also giving him clhorophyll to purify his blood, but am uncertain if this is safe for dogs or not.  I also need to have hydrogen peroxide added to his diet to get oxygen in him, as tumors cannot live in an enviroment of oxygen.  Will this hurt him to add to his water.  If not how much?  Thank you very much.  Sandy

Answer
Hi Sandy,

I'm sorry to hear of your dog's illness, and understand how desperately you want to do something to help him.

I know hydrogen peroxide can be added to a dog's drinking water at the ratio of 1 ounce to 1 quart of water, but that's if the water is thought to be contaminated. I do not know how much is safe to add to achive any therapeutic benefits.

Frankly, if this were my dog, I'd want to consult with a veterinary oncologist. Even though you'd rather treat your dog holistically, there are still veterinary naturopathic doctors, who might be worth consulting. They offer treatment options you might be inclined to use and trust. I wouldn't rule out trying veterinary acupuncture either.

If you can't find a doctor or clinic near you, feel free to get back to me with your location and I'll see what information I can dig up for you.

I hope I've been a help.

Best of luck,
