Question
hi karen i just got a rottwieler puppy baxter he is about 10 weeks now. i live up north and it gets really cold out here, i mean extremely cold like -20 weather and i was wondering if that type of climate is ok for my pup to go out 4 a walk and if hes ok in the garage when he gose to bed? cause i did have have him inside for the first week but he was making tooo much of a mess. and i didnt want him to get used to being inside cause he is an outdoor dog. so can u give me some advice on what i should be doing? and if its ok for him to be outside?
                                                 thanks

Answer
A rottweiler is a short-haired dog and is NOT meant to be an outside dog in extreme climates. He might need some sort of coat on those winter walks, and certainly cannot be left in a garage unless it is heated. No, it is not okay for him to be left outside for any length of time during the winter; his ears and other body parts could get frostbite at those temps.

Puppies are messy; they poop, pee, and chew, and are an extreme amount of work to train and keep track of. Perhaps you should have gotten a dog that was a bit older?
