Answer
Hi Sylvia :-)

Various things can cause watering of the eyes. The most common thing is allergies, conjunctivitis or a eye infection. Eye infections can play havoc with a Dogs sight if left untreated and the only successful treatment for this is medication prescribed by your Vet.

In regard to allergies, beause the watering eyes is a new thing for your puppy and IF you haven't changed any of his bedding then you can rule out allergies completely. If you HAVE changed his bedding, then I recommend you remove this bedding and change it for the puppys usual bedding to stop the irritation to the eyes.

In reagrd to conjunctivitis and eye infection, you will need to make a Vet appointment for no later than 48hours from now. The sooner this is treated the happier the puppy will be and the chance of a internal infection occurring will decrease dramatically.

Meanwhile, wet a tissue and bathe the puppys eyes every 4 hours with cold water. Do not apply any eye lotion, eye drops etc to the tissue because this will make the infection worse. If the cold tissue doesn't work then the only other availble option is a cold and wet tea bag which will relive irritation to the eyes. Also wipe away any discharge from his eyes.

Good luck at the Vet and all the best and please leave me a comment.
