small and large dog feeding

Question
i have 4 small (under 10#) and 1 larger (whale size) dog.  i leave dry food out all day.  my problem is the large dog eats everything in the small bowls then lays by his bowl and won't let the little girls eat. i work all day so i can't be here to supervise. i want to build a feeding station for the little dogs but not sure how to go about it.  i have tried putting the small bowls under the table but the aussie just paws them out where he can get to them.  i picked you for my question because your a groomer and so am i and because you are a schn. person and i have a toy schn. that i love dearly.

Answer
Leaving food out all day is absolutely the worst thing to do from a behaviorial/training aspect. The dogs think the food "grew" there rather than it was given to them by the Alpha (who should be YOU).

You must put the dogs on either one or two feedings a day, and they must be fed separately. I would recommend feeding them in crates, or in separate rooms if you don't use crates.

And I would guess that your Aussie will need to be put on a diet.
