Question
Our dog 'snacked' on one of my daughter's slightly used pads.  Should I give the dog something to make her throw up?  My daughter is concerned about the little absorbent beads.  No plastic was eaten.  Our dog weighs about 30 - 35 lbs.  If I need to make her urp.  Thanks.

Answer
Hi Margie,

Thanks for writing to me.

I am not sure exactly what product you are referring to but if it were my dog I would definitely phone poison control or call my vet.

It is too late in the evening to call the company and speak with them.  You could start with a phone call to your vet and if you can't reach him call poison control.

It is possible that if these beads are meant to absorb moisture, they could absorb enough moisture in the stomach to cause a fatal condition known as bloat. Keep checking your dog's stomach for a feeling of fullness and hardness.  If this happens, time is of the essence to save her life as it means that the stomach is twisting and cutting off the blood supply.

My advice is to follow either of the suggestions above in order to avoid a potential treat to your dog's life.

Best of luck..I hope she'll be OK.
