Question
I have a black female lab. I've read up on obedience and things of the sort but never about breeding. She's in heat and I think she might be preganant. The father would be a yellow lab. Her parents were a chocolate and a silver lab. Does that mean that she could have silver or chololate puppies? how does that work?

Answer
Hi Steve;
Same as with humans, they can inherit traits from any bloodline in them.
I have never heard of a silver lab before, just the black, chocolate and yellow labs.
You would need to check with someone that has experience breeding labs.
I don't know if a black lab and a chocolate lab would produce purebred labs, or if they would be considered mixed breeds.
If she is not pregnant now, please make sure she doesn't get pregnant, and have her spayed as soon as her season is over.
This not only prevents more strays being born, but it will actuallu help to prolong your dog's life.
