my dog has a whiteish eye

Question
hello,
i recently adopted a 10 year old bischon and her 6 year old sister. two days ago my 10 year old dog  woke up with her eye a whitish color with a little yellow crust on it. i thought it could be her allergies because her previous owner told me she gets seasonal allergies  and to give her the medicine she gave me.
her eye kind of looks "dead" , like a dead cow eye. she is eating and playing normally though. she does like running around the carpet rubbing her face and her sister likes licking her eyes. a very bad habit im trying to stop.
i also was wondering if its a cold because the air conditioning has been on alot and maybe shes not used to it. i have a vet appointment next Thursday but her white eye is starting to scare me. any help greatly appreciated and any herbal remedies are also requested.
                   thank you

Answer
Hello, I'm not a vet and am happy to hear you are one of the people who has made an apointment And asked around...most ask questions only a vet could answer and I can not answer and can only say take your dog to his or her vet right away. This sounds to me like a cataract as the eye will go whit/bluish and very hazy...I am not real informed about eye problems such as this, but the yellow discharge signals an infection this i know beecause my labrador retiever has had small eye infections in the past and the discharge is yellow...sticky and rather alot of it, The air conditioning shouldnt cause what you've discribed...not the white changing colors. In my experiance with allergies in my own dogs I can say that this isnt part of allergies.... my dogs get itchy, get hot spots or get yeast infections in there ears when there allergies act up  but never this. I am sorry I couldnt be of more help I even checked around the internet but can't come up with a picture of what you have discribed.
