Travelling

My King Charles Cavalier is 18 months old and has always gone in the car wherever we go.  We had an accident ;last month and ended up with a merc van on the bonnet of the car and now he hates the car and loud noises.  We sit with him in the car on the drive which is ok but not when we start moving and if we hit a pot hole, any suggestions would be grateful, hate leaving him at home all the time.

He is young and I hope he will readjust.  You could try short trips, perhaps just around the block, and then longer trips trying to select smoother roads.   

If he quiets down, praise him or give him a treat.  Be very careful not to do anything he could interupt as rewarding him for showing fear.
