6 Week Old Pomeranian Mix

Question
Hello
I have a 6 week old Pomeranian/Schipperke mix puppy. We have just recently taken her to the vet and she is in good health besides worms and fleas, which we are giving her medicine for. I am unsure how much I should be feeding her and how often since she is so young. We are feeding her and my other puppy (who is 9 months) puppy food, though the Pom's food we soften up with water. Do you have any tips to make feeding and taking care of her any easier? We are fostering her for the next 2 to 3 weeks till she goes to her forever home. Thanks

Answer
Hello, I have not yet raised a puppy that was so small my smallest dogs were 4 to 4 1/2 pounds when I brought them home. But basicly you want to keep a tiny puppy in close contact with you...a tny puppy can fit anywere so you don't want to loose her within the home under couches or anything of that srt...beware she can squeeze through tiny holes in your fencing if you have any as well. Feeding the kibble moistened with water is the best way to go with small pupstry a high qulity kible with realmeat in it if its not what your feeding now...if she is being overlypicky with her kibble. Some people say lamb and rice is better for puppies stomachs since they are more sensitive to tummy upsets but my dogs as pups would never touch lamb and rice kibbles and I fed al mine chicken or chicken and rice kibbles. Avoid fatty biscuts or chews they may make her throw up as well. You can check into my free website to see if theres anything you might find useful there as well...the website is always being updated with new pictures and info being added at lest twice monthly.
