Mini Eskimo Shaved for Summer?

Is it safe to shave a Eskimo for the summer heat and humidity?  My little guy pants constantly even in the house.  If it would make him more comfortable I wouldn't care if he looked funny!  Thank you for your time in answering my question!

Yes, I do feel that any hairy dog is more comfortable in the summer once he has been shaved. Many claim that double-coated breeds should not be shaved because the coat is insulating, but I have seen a decided difference in the before and after in these dogs. He would be more comfortable shaved down.
