swollen nipples and discharge

My toy yorkshire terrier came home yesterday from the vets after having eclampsia, today her nipples are very swollen and she has had small amounts of discharge. I know that she still has milk but wanted to know how long it takes to go away? She is on calcium tablets for a week and I am not allowing her to feed the puppies as they are drinking themselves now. I would be grateful for any advice

It takes awhile for the milk to go away, her body is telling her she needs to feed her babies and the extra calcium is also keeping her milk up. Try feeding her a lower protein dog food for awhile, and use some hot compresses, at least three times a day on her mammary glands. Poor little girl., I hope she recovers well and quickly
