Frequent Puppy Urination

Question
We trained our 9 week old granddog for three days before she went to be with her "parents".  During that 3 day period, she only had one "accident".  Since she has been with her "parents", she seems to be urinating constantly, even in her crate.  My daughter mentioned it to the vet, who looked at her bottom and said he thought that her "vulva" was not the way it should be and that because of the way she was built, she could possibly have a urinary tract infection.  Has anyone ever heard of this.  How would you go about getting urine from a pup to be analyzed?  A prompt reply would really be appreciated.

Answer
Yes, it is quite possible that she could have a bladder infection. Bitches have a short urethra and the way some of them squat so close to the ground, it is very easy for them to pick up an infection.

You need to catch her urine in something as she squats. A clean jar lid sometimes works well with bitches. Of course, she will have to be walked on a leash in order to catch her stream.
