Question
please help me. i need advice. my boxer is 9 years old. over the last 8 months or so he has had significant weight loss. he eats very little. he alos refuses people food, which is out of character for him. the vet called him emaciated. blood work and x rays showed no signs of illness. he recently had a seizure. it is now time to decide if we should put him down. but without a definitive diagnosis, i am hesitant. any advice would be appreciated. thank you

Answer
Honestly, you can take him to the vet,and have him thoroughly checked out. And if it were my dog,. I would definitely do that for my peace of mind. However, it is my personal opinion that he has a very serious illness, possibly even cancer. Even though he might've had a better chance had you gone in months ago, many cancers are very slow growing so it need not be a death sentence. Whatever you do, do not allow your dog to lose his dignity and suffer. It is our greatest responsibility as pet owners to insure that our dogs have a dignified, pain free passing.
blessings,
