eating habit

Question
We had a Tri color collie years ago that did this same thing,The "new" dog was never around the old dog but has this same habit. We beleive that it is a combo of spirit in our GSD. She is the sweetest alpha we have. When it comes to feeding she will pick up a mouthful of food and then go to where ever one of us are and then drop and eat it. As smart as she is I told my wife that she was telling us the food is to hard. we tried another brand a little less hard and she ate the first bowl standing over it but then by the next day back to "normal" so to speak. Is she trying to tell us something? AS I typed this she came in ate a couple mouths full and then stopped she never "gobbles" it all down. She gets "scraps" once in a blue moon. As she has been my Littermate for the past 11 years. I hope this gives enuff background to get an idea of what the problem may be.By scraps I meen chicken or steak some veggies that she likes. She kinda tells us when she's hungry as we can't leave the food down for the other two will gobble it down.
thank you for your time.

Answer
Perhaps I shouldn't have stepped up to answer this since I don't have a good answer.  Yeah, Shepherds do that.  Since young Shepherds tend to be light eaters, usually you are happy they are eating at all.  Have you tried shutting her in a crate or room by her self?
