Question
My five yr old crested has real bad skin issues. She has black heads, pimples and now white cyst type bumps. I have tried exfloilants, poping the zits/black heads. The two vets that she has been to...really have NOT given me any feedback! All that has been said is to try special shampoo or the it is just her skin. Please help!

Answer
Unfortunately, you have a breed which is prone to skin problems. I would bathe her every couple weeks with a medicated shampoo, letting it sit on her skin for a few minutes before rinsing it off... and rinsing it very well. Be sure that you do not put anything else on her skin, as things like sunscreen can cause problems... the exact problems you are experiencing.

Also be sure you are feeding her a quality food such as Eagle, Wellness, Canidae, or Solid Gold. One breeder is feeding her CCs a food that is 30% protein and 20% fat, but I think the fat levels are a bit too high, and her product contains menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of vitamin K activity), so I cannot recommend it.
