when should my beagle come into season

Hi Kristin,I have a 2 yr old female beagle named Jessie she had her first litter at the end of August 2008.She had 4 pupps with a c section ,now we have a male named Woody he has been sniffing Jessie a lot and we thought it was wise to move her to mums for a few weeks but we went to visit Jessie today but when we checked her to see if she is in season she doesnt looked swollen in that area so im not sure if she is can you help in any way kind regards Linda

Hi Linda,

A female dog may come into season again about 4-6 months after whelping a litter, though that isn't cast in stone. It can be as early as 3 mo later, and as late as 8 mo later. Heat cycles can be light after they had a litter, and they're always subject to change!

You just need to monitor your dog, to know when she's in heat again.
