ok so i have a 16 year old american eskimo and its only been recent that hes always hungry(he is on a steroid) but he has been on it for a couple of years now and hes only been this hungry for the last 3 months(maybe) and i mean hes jumping(all 4 feet off the ground) almost as high as the counter! we feed him up to 6 times in a day(2 1/2 cans) but then he also has the odd problem of randomly throwing it back up and eating it(so on and so on) but hes always hungry even after throwing up!! can you please help me!? or know anyone who can!!! thank you soo much ! Hi Alyssa,

Thank you for writing to me about your senior Eskie.  I also have an Eskie.  They are wonderful dogs.

The steroids may be upsetting your dogs stomach and creating a feeling of hunger.  You must have him examined by a vet to determine if he has worms or parasites that could be giving him an increased appetite.  Ask your vet to run a senior blood profile, paying particular attention to the thyroid and pancreas.

Prior to eating give your pooch a digestive enzyme and some ginger to settle his stomach.  These should be helpful for the throwing up.

The senior blood profile and an exam by a vet should offer important information as to your dog's increased appetite and stomach upset.
