Can this dog be rehabilitated

Question
My husband and I are thinking of rescuing a doberman female who is thought to be under 2 years.  She is currently in foster care.  She is extremely afraid of people.  The foster family has had her for 4 months and they say she has come along way but she does not come when they call her and is clearly fearful when they pet her.  My husband and I both work.  We can be with her all week end and evenings but she will be by herself up to 8 hours per day on week days.  Do we have a chance of turning her into a loving, friendly pet? We don't want to make her life worse. We just lost our doberman who was our baby.  Thank you for your help.  Linda

Answer
Any dog can be worked on if you are willing to put in the time, money and patience. With the work of an experienced trainer, this dog can be socialized-so what the best thing to to do would be to call up several trainers and explain the situation and go with the one the you like the answers. I think she will adjust just fine, dogs are adaptable and I believe this dog won't be that hard to work with
