Question
Sophie is two years old and we purchased her from a pet store.  She had always been skittish and doesn't like to be petted in her rear area.  Her second full summer with us she showed fear of thunder and fireworks (they sound the same.  Towards the end of the summer she began to not want to finish our walks.  She jumps on me and pulls to go home.  This is the same route we have taken for two years and nothing has happened on our walks.  We have a Schnoodle who is almost 5 and they are two peas in pod.  Casey(older dog) is always with us on our walks and it seems unfair to turn around early.  I also can't imagine leaving Sophie home while only Casey gets a walk.  I don't want to force her if she is truly scared.

Answer
What you could try is something called 'Rescue Remedy' and can be bought at any health food store. It is a natural product, but helps calm the nerves-and what you do is put a few drops on a treat about 20 minutes before you need for it to set in.Also whenever she is calm or does something new,it will be a good idea to reward her for that, even if it's something small-it will boost her confidence.
