Question
I have a 8 month old spaniel male.  and it has been the third time that he pee on our bed after being outside for most of the day and do not catch him in the act.  he had a foxterier on the same premises and he died a week ago.  and we were wondering why he does this.  The other dog never entered our house at all what can we do to resolve the problem

Thank you

Answer
It would be extremely difficult for me to diagnose what is going on with him, but I would first ask if he is neutered?  That might be a good place to start as sometimes this can be a "marking" behavior.

If he was close to the fox terrier, there could be some grieving on his part.

If you are not catching him in the act, discipline or punishment is useless.  I would suggest possibly reinstituting basic housebreaking methods as a reminder for him.

I am including some documents that may offer some suggestions or help.
