Question
are ham bones safe for minpins to eat? i boiled my holiday ham for soup and gave my 4yr old 19 lb minpin the bone it was pretty clean from boiling.  he had the knuckle off in no time and was chewing it pretty good. i took it away because he has history of separation ulcerative colitis and was afraid he might get sick he didn't eat alot but now im worried

Answer
My own PERSONAL feeling is that only uncooked (raw) bones are safe; cooked bones become brittle and can splinter.

I am not familiar with separation ulcerative colitis; but as long as the dog continues to eat and poop normally and doesn't behave any differently, I would think everything would be fine.
