deworming dogs

Question
How can I deworm my almost 2 year old shepard without having to take her to the vet?  She has the worms that look like rice in her poop.  As a pup she had and survived parvo.  Thank you.

Answer
You dont need to actually take the dog to the vet, just go to the vet yourself and ask at the counter for a de-wormer.  The ones you get in pet stores are no good as the drugs that are actually effective are prescription only and can only be obtained from the vet the animal is registered with.
You can then hide the tablets in a piece of something strong tasting like cheese and she should eat them no problem.  If she doesnt take them in food you will need a second person to hold her and will have to open her mouth and push the tablets as far back on her tongue as possible then hold her mouth shut and massage her throat until she swallows them.
She should be wormed approximately every three months to prevent worm infestation.
Hope this helps
