Grass?

Question
Hey, I have two Bugg dogs, (Boston terrier pug mix) and they are outside a lot of the day and I always see them eat grass. Is there a reason for this? I've been doing research and haven't found a strait answer on WHY they do it. Hopefully you can give me an idea. I had one myself. I think they eat it because its a 'trait' for them, because back when there was no Dog eat Dog with Adam and Eve, they where Vegetarians. That is just an idea. Give me some kind of help PLEASE!! haha .. Thanks, Sarah

Answer
Hi, Sarah :)

That's a very interesting idea! It's possible that, since animals were originally created as vegetarians, they still have a sweet tooth for greens!

Dogs also eat grass when bored...some dogs, believe it or not, instead of barking or digging or other pesky behavior when they get bored will eat grass or dirt! Sometimes a 40 minute walk, or a 20 minute game of vigorous fetch will solve the problem :)

Eating grass is also a natural vomit inducer for dogs...so when they find a plant that turns their stomach, they'll eat some grass and out it all comes.
Sometimes when a dog is ill with a problem that they don't know how to fix, they will try to induce vomiting to make themselves feel better. As owners, this is actually something to take somewhat seriously. While it could just be a habit, it could be them trying to let you know that they have a medical problem they can't fix. A checkup at the vets office might uncover some simple problem, and clear it all up :)

Either way.....hope you figure it out ;)
BEST OF LUCK :D
