Question
Hi Marie
I have 8 year old, 22 pound Beagle.  I have noticed in the last few months he is getting a mole on his belly and hind leg, which are fine in color, dont seem to bother him but are growing, about the size of the end of a small pinkie.  The vet says to bring him in, but I'm wondering if I really need to?  Are these normal?

Thanks
Charlie

Hi Charlie, It's hard to say what is going on with your Beagle Boy.  You may want the Vet to take a look.  If the area is changing in size and color you do need to see the Vet.

Have you Vet do a skin scrape or smear:  Can be done right in the office:
Some ulcerated masses lend themselves to easy cell collection and identification by having a glass microscope slide pressed against the raw surface of the mass.  The collected cells are dried and sent to a pathologist for staining and diagnosis.  Sometimes the attending veterinarian will be able to make a diagnosis via the smear

Most of my clients take NuVET supplements each day - Very helpful with healing the skin and general over-all Heath....
see here for more info on NuVET

Also, Some Olive oil - added each day to the food is great for skin and coat.
Just 1/2 teaspoon of Pure olive oil - mixed into the food each day.

Next, a good quality dry dog food is a must:
Try to get a food with No corn in the ingredients.
Corn just causes major skin and allergy problems:
This is the one we use on our pet and many of our Clients:
Life's Abundance - see here: they deliver to your door/ Fresh - not sitting in a store for many months.
Do you know what's in your dog food:  Good read** see here-

Bottom line - Please have the Vet take a look ......
I hope it is just a Beauty mark???  - non cancerous skin growth.

Please let me know what the Vet says.
