Problems with my Akita

Question
I have an Akita female who is nearly 2 years old, she is very domineering and I have experienced coutless difficulties with her behaviour. 6 months ago the problems had got soexcessive I considered putting her down. She had become very aggressive around food, dogs and animals and was escaping from an extremely sizeable garden. I have started from scratch with her, crated her due to soiling and destructive behaviour. I have managed to stop the soiling and behaviour but I am now finding she is still agressive with food.
She has been doing so well we decided to get a puppy, after I have took her bone from her this morning she has bitten the puppy, ausing it to bleed badly and needed veterinary attention.
I really am at a loss with this I am unsure what to do with her and I m absolutely fed up of the behaviours.
After the incident with the puppy today, I have 4 children and I dread to think what I d do if she bit one of the kids I don t want to give up on her but am coming to the conclusion that having her put down might be my only option left x x

Answer

Hi Christina,

Knowing your 2 year old Akita was quite dominate, and had countless behavioral issues, why ever did you think bringing a puppy into your home was a good idea?!

I don't know what you want me to tell you. Rather than putting her down, you should be working at rehoming her.

Best of luck,
Patti
