Canine Renal - Early Stage

My mixed lab female is 13 1/2 and has through blood tests shown early stages of renal disease. The vet put her on canned Royal Canin LP & thinks diet will be enough of a control at the moment. I simply can't afford the vet prescribed RC LP at this time. Is there a high end commercial dry dog food that is low in protein and especially low in phosphorus on the U.S. market that you could recommend?

Good afternoon, Anne.

If you can feed a home prepared diet, that would be optimal.  If you cannot, you can look at foods like California Natural and Natural Balance.  I would suggest feeding canned food with the dry.

At the same time, if you could, add a good quality salmon oil with vitamin E and a good quality probiotic to help the kidneys in general.
