Canine Bladder Stone diet

Question
My 13 year old female miniature schnauzer was found last moth to have bladder stones (initially detected by blood in the urine).  She has been on Hills S/D diet for two weeks now and hates it.  At first she gulped it down (half a can twice a day), but now she just walks away from her bowl leaving the food untouched.  She is losing weight (she was a little overweight to start with) and I need to find some diet for both near and long term.  I believe you offer a home made diet to someone for this problem.  Would you share it?  Or, do have other, more palatable foods (or homeopathy treatment) to suggest?
Thanks

Answer
Hi Fred,

First of all, my apologies for the delayed reply. I had some serious computer issues last week, actually two at the same time so when I fixed one another more serious one was still in need of rectification. I'm back on track now and I do apologize for the late reply.

Now, your question. I develop individalized home mamde diets for dogs with conditions, but I do it for a living. I have seen many generic diets online over the years that are grossly unbalanced; I also address each dog as a whole indivdual and provide nutritional support geared to that dog, and not some "average" specimen. Experience has taught me that dogs will react differently to different foods, nutrient levels, even the supplements. I can certainly give a few pointers on the diet but since I'm a nutrition consulant by profession I refer anyone with a serious issue to my website for further details.

Miniature Schnauzers as you know are prone to a number of health conditions that can be highly responsive to proper nutrition. I agree with you that the Hill's foods present some serious drawbacks in terms of ingredient quality. We can discuss this further, I just wanted to let you know that I offer a personalized service that will provide you dog with a variety of balanced meals geared to her unique profile and condition. I am also (I promise) going to post an article on uroliths on my website within a few weeks, since  am often asked about dietary measures and I cannot in good conscience just hand out diet plans.

Let me know if I can help anymore,
and again my apologies for the delay!
