Question
Dinky is a Chihuahua who was found in a parking lot. She weighed in at 1.5 lbs in July when found. She now weighs 3.0 lbs. She was taken to the vet yesterday. He said "she is about 3 years old". He said "she will only live a couple more years at most because, she was straved for so long". He described her condition as malnourished with a rickets like condition. She does look horribly skinny. She also has a heart murmor. The vet thought she would die if any surgeries were performed on her because, of her over all health. She has tarter on her teeth including baby teeth that she never lost. I was wondering is there are any nutritional suppliments that might help her live longer and healthier. She is a very picky eater. She wants to live on potatoe chips.

Answer
Oh Jennifer, That was so wonderful of you taking in little Dinky.
You could try to add some pure canned pumkin to her diet.  ( 1 teaspoon per day ) of NO added sugar pure canned pumpkin.
Also, a few teaspoons of 2 % cottage cheese - every day or every-other-day.
And last, how about some jars of baby food?  ( Chicken or beef) - many folks will feed baby food to a picky little dog.

good luck
