Question
QUESTION: Hi Marie, I've been reading this site for quite some time and haven't found something similar to my dogs issue. I was wondering if you could help.
My Bichon/ spaniel mix had some bladder stones (a mix of stuvite and oxcilate) and had surgery last year to remove a blockage, since then she's had reoccurring bladder issues and we have done tons of rounds of antibiotics. Is there a recipe for dog food that will help me to control her bladder issues? I have her on a brewers yeast tablet already, but I'm looking more for a low fat (she's chubby) recipe that will support my 22lb dog. I also looked at the nuvet vitamin that you recommend a lot of the time, is the Nutri-Vet Multi-Tab Complete Multivitamin the same?
Thank you for your help! Sadie and I appreciate any information you can provide us!

Thanks again,
Ellie (owner) & Sadie (Puppy)

ANSWER: Hi Ellie and Sadie,  Yes, I would be glad to provide you with a recipe for her bladder issues.
As far as the NuVet Vitamin, it's the only one that my clients take.
The Nurti-Vet Product is not one that I will refer to.  NuVET Plus works great with our recipes and we stick with that.
You can call the girls tomorrow at NuVET--- they are a Holistic company and not sold in any stores:

See recipe and NuVET below -  Please take her off the Brewers yeast tablets for now.

HOPE this helps -

QUESTION: Hi Marie,

Thank you very much for the information! I was wondering if the recipes you provided support a low phosphate diet? My vet recommended this due to the high concentration of Sadie's urine.
As for the tuna, I have always heard not to give dogs tuna (fish in general) I know your a vet, I just want to double check.
And just to clarify the recipes are for 1 full days worth of meals not just per serving?

Thanks again for all your information; Sadie and I truly appreciate it.

Ellie

Answer
Hi Ellie,  Please remember that I am a Pet Nurse and Not a Vet.
This is low pro and low phosphate - Excellent for pets with past kidney stones or even for kideny failure.  Thank God your baby is not in Kidney failure.

The amounts were for 1 Day of food - Break the amount up into two meals.
If your little one need more food add a little x-tra of the Veggies.

Tuna was fine for 3-4 x per week or less.
Tuna needs to be the White one - Less Mercury.
If you can find a Holisitic Tuna, that is best.  I don't know if you have any of the Whole foods stores or TRADER Joe's Stores.... GREAT products at Bread & Circus, too.
( they are all Whole foods / Natural/( organic ) supermarkets.

Please make sure you call in her order for the NuVET Plus.
