hi there,,we were at a local market nearby and girls there were selling baked salmon skins,,as a treat for our dogs,we bought some,,our dogs love them,,but i know skins have more fat than the fish and i can not find any info on fact about skins,,also  they had smoked bones,,which our dogs loved,,are they better than raw or the same,,we have bouviers and they are good chewers, thanx   debbie

Salmon skin is a healthy treat for a dog and has Omega-3 fatty acids.  Salmons fat is in a layer right below their skin, and the amount of fat left in the salmon skins depends how it is cooked, but it is still a healthy treat.  When you give treats, you may want to compensate for the extra calories by cutting down a bit on the dogs daily meals.  A company called Snack 21 makes salmon skin treats and chews.

I am not sure what type of bones these smoked bones are.  I prefer feeding only raw bones (like beef marrow bones) because cooked bones can splinter more easily.  You should keep an eye on the dog while chewing and throw out any broken off pieces.
