And i mean wee alot. He doesnt do it at nite. Its causeing me a little stress, cos i try not to go out cos i have to clean up when i get back, plus hes not even bothered by it cos he sometimes lays in it! The other prob i have is when i take him out he goes looking for dog and cat poo to eat! Hes on a very good diet so why does he do this. Can u help?

There's good news, and there's bad news.

Let's start with the bad news.  Poop eating is actually very normal - despite being totally gross - behavior. It does present a health concern though since he can pick up worms, not ot mention you don;t want any more kisses.

There are things out there like Forbid that are supposed to work, but I've never had it work... and I've never had any luck with black licorice either.

You'll just have to keep him on leash and prevent the bahavior.

As for the crate pottying, the first thing you need to do is make sure he potties just before you leave.

The next step I would use is the use of a belly band. It is a piece of fabric which goes around his waist over his peener.  This is sold at places like Petsmart, etc.

These get put on just before you crate him and leave - so you would potty him, put it on, crate him and leave.

They work a couple of ways - 1st it is a barrier that protects the surroundings, 2nd it acts as a negtive reinforcer because the dog stays wet, and 3rd because they are usually embarassed by them.

If you try this, make sure you put it on firmly, but not so tight as to cut off any circulation.  and of course, it;s vital to remove it and potty him as soon as you come home.

Being very persistent in addressing this problem is what is going to make it turn out OK in the end.
