2 yr Toy Poodle uses the house as a bathroom

How can I get my 2 yr old poodle to stop peeing and pooping in the house? We take out side and she still goes in the house. She was given to me by a co-worker who tried but still wasn't working. I work and 8-hour shift and she go in her crate all day, doesn't wait for anyone to get home. She poop and pee all over the house whenever she feels like it. Help!!!!

I am a big believer in crates, but hate to see any dog left over 4-5 hours. If you can't make it back to give it a mid day break, see if a neighbor or professional dog walker can. Doggy day care is a great idea too.

When you are around you need to keep a close eye on the dog. Use closed doors or gates to keep it in the same room as you are, and perhaps as I do, a short chain fastened to the computer desk. It needs to go out the first thing in the morning, after eating, drinking, and sleeping. If it quits playing, and starts running around sniffing, it is looking for a place to go. Take it out quickly. How successful you are depends on how attentive you are.If you catch it in the act, give it a sharp ''Ah, ah, ah!'' and take it out. When you can't watch it, crate it.

Take it out on leash.  Walk around.  They can only walk and hold it so long.  When it finally has to go, lavish praise on it.


Many people strongly strongly push cleaning up all evidence of past accidents. I am slower to suggest that. Dogs will return to the same spot if they can find it. When you see one sniffing the spot, that is your clue to run it out.
